2,000 Mattresses, One Big Mission: Changing Lives in Uganda
What does a great night's sleep have to do with transforming a community in Uganda? More than you might think. At Denver Mattress, we have always believed that a good mattress isn't a luxury - it's a foundation for a better life. And thanks to our incredible partnership with Musana, over 2,000 of our mattresses are now giving children in Uganda exactly that: a real foundation to rest, grow, and thrive.
We recently received a video message straight from Musana leaders on the ground in Mayuge, Uganda, and we had to share it. Watch it here and see for yourself why this partnership means so much to us.
Meet Musana: More Than a Charity
Musana is a Community Development Organization rooted in faith and dedicated to empowering the people of Uganda - not through traditional aid, but through something far more powerful: sustainable, community-led transformation.
Musana was co-founded by Haril and Andrea Kazindra, whose vision goes far beyond handing out resources. Instead, Musana builds the infrastructure that communities need to thrive on their own terms - quality schools, community hospitals, and entrepreneurship training centers. Their goal is simple but powerful: communities across Uganda that are fully self-reliant and thriving for generations to come.
Their work touches three core areas: education, healthcare, and economic development. On the education front, Musana constructs and operates schools that go beyond Uganda's national curriculum, empowering the next generation of leaders from the ground up. In healthcare, Musana Community Hospitals bring patient-centered care to rural areas that desperately need it. And through their training centers, Musana equips everyday people with business and practical skills to become job creators in their own communities.
It's a holistic, community-first approach that is genuinely changing lives - and we at Denver Mattress are honored to be a part of it.
A Partnership Built on Purpose
Denver Mattress and Furniture Row's relationship with Musana runs deep, and it shows up in a big way throughout the year.
We have been a proud sponsor of Musana's annual Golf Tournament at Colorado Golf Club, where over $223,000 was raised to fund the construction of new nursery and primary schools in Mayuge and Budaka, Uganda. We have also partnered with Musana's Women of Grit & Grace Luncheon, an annual Ladies' Luncheon held each spring in recognition of International Women's Day and the remarkable women of Uganda.
And then there's Taste to Transform - Musana's signature fundraising event, and our personal favorite night on the Denver calendar. In 2023, the event - held at The Brighton in Brighton, Colorado - became the largest in Musana's history, featuring co-founders Haril and Andrea Kazindra, special guests Tim and Demi-Leigh Tebow, and an appearance by Alex Kyzze, one of the original 80 Ugandan children who have been with Musana since day one. In 2025, the event leveled up again at Mile High Station, where nearly 500 supporters raised over $800,000 in a single night.
That brand new school in the video? That is exactly what this community came together to build.
