Oak Express: First to Help Replant
For Immediate Release:
Nebraska City, Neb.‐ Oak Express, a division of Furniture Row Company, is the first company to commit funding for the replanting of America's national forests. Oak Express is teaming with National Arbor Day Foundation to reforest areas damaged by the recent fires in the Western states.
Extraordinarily dry conditions and heavy fuel buildup on the forest floor are causing fires to burn uncontrollably in parts of California, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, and other states. These blazes have destroyed more forestland this year than any other since those of 1988 that burned through Yellowstone National Park. So far this year, more than 64,000 fires have scorched over 3.5 million acres of our national forests ‐ ‐ killing thousands of birds and animals and destroying vital habitat for grizzly bear, moose, elk, deer and other wildlife.
Oak Express has committed to planting 150,000 seedling trees in areas damaged by these fires. Their support is the first the Foundation hopes to receive from companies across the country. "This is a devastation we will feel for many years unless immediate action is taken," says the Foundation's President, John Rosenow. "Oak Express should be complimented for their leadership and concern for the environment. The trees they help plant will provide habitat and food for wildlife, reduce soil erosion, clean the air, and add beauty to the landscape. Future generation s will enjoy recreational activities like camping, hiking and fishing because of the kindness of Oak Express and others who support reforestation programs."
Oak Express, a division of Furniture Row Company, is headquartered in Denver, Colorado. Furniture Row is one of the nation's largest retail home furnishings companies that include other popular store brands like Big Sur Waterbeds, Denver Mattress, Kidzzz Bedzzz and Aspen Leather Gallery.
The National Arbor Day Foundation is a nonprofit education organization dedicated to tree planting and environmental stewardship. More information on the Foundation and its programs is available online at arborday.org.
